The recent news of the career-threating injury suffered by Rockets franchise player Yao Ming has brought many to believe that the big man era of the NBA is over. I am one of those believers.
Yao Ming's injury proves to be a continuous sign for any player over 7 feet or over 265 pounds. Let's take a look:
Shaq: toe problems. Weight problems. He continues to be a dominant force, but that's only because he's SO big.
Jermaine O'Neal: Hasn't been the same since he signed that huge contract with the Pacers. (which is also why he's been traded so much.) He's had terrible luck with his knees.
Greg Oden: Microfracture knee surgery. Any player who gets knee surgery needs three years to become what they once were. These players are rushed back and then you get situations like, well Oden. He may never reach his full potential.
Andrew Bynum: I understand the Lakers just won a title, but Bynum has been out for more than half the season for two seasons in a row. He's just too big.
Carlos Boozer: Missed part of the season with, you guessed it, bad knees.
I haven't even gotten to Al Jefferson, Andrew Bogut, Tyson Chandler, Mutumbo, Magloire, Nesterovic, O'Bryant, Kaman, Haywood, even Tim Duncan has had injury woes.
My advice to NBA teams:
STOP GETTING BIG MEN.
Few teams have mastered the European style of basketball, but it does work (ask Cleveland how they felt after playing Orlando). One big man, shooters on the perimeter, point guard who passes first. Amare Stoudamire, Dwight Howard, and Al Horford are prime examples of the future. Even Chris Bosh can be the one big man. BTW, if Toronto gets Turkoglu, watch out for them to be a power in the East next year. Teams have to adapt to the new style of play. The NBA is evolving into a fast-break, fast-paced game, and only those with athletic big men will be able to keep up.

BET Awards always has some fashion ups and downs...this year wasn't a complete fashion disaster but there weren't too many highlights either.
I LOVE Alicia. The dress was simple and cute but the shoes are great. They were simple and flesh-colored which made her legs look much longer than usual. Plus, she covered the top since her legs were so exposed. Some artists come to each award show looking completely different, I like Alicia because she always looks like herself...she didn't try too hard. She got the right idea.
Kanye=nothing special. Amber's shoes=LOVE. I like her outfit...she has a lot of her back out (she DOES enjoy being naked most of the time), but she doesn't look tacky.
